Hymn Lyrics: The Ninety And Nine
1. There were ninety and nine that safely layin the shelter of the fold, but one was out on the hills away, far off from the gates of gold —away on the mountains wild and bare, away from the tender Shepherd’s care, away from the tender Shepherd’s care.
2. “Lord, thou hast here thy ninety and nine;are they not enough for thee?”But the Shepherd made answer:“This of mine has wandered away from me,and although the road be rough and steep,I go to the desert to find my sheep,I go to the desert to find my sheep.”
3. But none of the ransomed ever knewhow deep were the waters crossed;nor how dark was the night that the Lord passed thro’ere he found his sheep that was lost.Out in the desert he heard its cry —sick and helpless, and ready to die, sick and helpless, and ready to die.
4. “Lord, whence are those blood-drops all the waythat mark out the mountain’s track?”“They were shed for one who had gone astrayere the Shepherd could bring him back.”“Lord, whence are thy hands so rent and torn?”“They’re pierced tonight by many a thorn, they’re pierced tonight by many a thorn.”
5. But all thro’ the mountains, thunder-riv’n,and up from the rocky steep, there arose a glad cry to the gate of heav’n,“Rejoice! I have found my sheep!”And the angels echoed around the throne,“Rejoice, for the Lord brings back his own!Rejoice, for the Lord brings back his own!”

Lyrics: "Let the Lower Lights Be Burning"
1. Brightly beams our Father’s mercyFrom His lighthouse evermore; But to us He gives the keepingOf the lights along the shore.
(Refrain) Let the lower lights be burning!Send a gleam across the wave! Some poor fainting, struggling seamanYou may rescue, you may save.
2. Dark the night of sin has settled,Loud the angry billows roar;Eager eyes are watching, longing,For the lights along the shore. (Refrain)
3. Trim your feeble lamp, my brother! Some poor seaman, tempest-tossed,Trying now to make the harbor,In the darkness may be lost. (Refrain)

Christians You Should Know: William Carey
Friday Sep 12, 2025
Friday Sep 12, 2025
William Carey was a pioneer in missions because he understood the great heart of God to save lost sinners. The salvation of the lost consumed William Carey, but it was his love for Christ that compelled him. God used the life and testimony of David Brainerd to encourage Carey into mission work, in which he accomplished much!
Many aspects of Carey’s life and ministry should be studied. His work to get the Scripture to the people of India must not go without recognition. Carey’s perseverance during violent illness, personal suffering, marital distress, persecution, and incomprehensible oppression serves to remind us that God’s work requires God’s strength.

He was a tireless worker. Wesley possessed a brilliant mind and gave all of it to the Lord. He would rise at four every morning and spend hours in prayer and the study of Scripture. John Wesley wrote books, preached forty thousand sermons, trained preachers, gave away millions of dollars (in today's money), cared for orphans, and traveled extensively on horseback. Wesley saw many thousands come to Christ - his ministry was remarkable and fruitful.

Hymn History: I Gave My Life for Thee
As Francis Ridley Havergal gazed thoughtfully at the painting (whose depiction was of Pilate presenting Christ to an angry mob), her eyes fell to an inscription below it. The inscription reads, “I have done this for you; what have you done for me?”
Seventeen-year-old Havergal was so profoundly moved that she went straight home and began writing a poem. She spent quite some time trying to write out her thoughts.
Eventually, Francis gave up and threw her paper into the fire…or so she thought...

Lyrics: I Gave My Life for Thee
1. I gave My life for thee,My precious blood I shed,That thou mightst ransomed be,And quickened from the dead;I gave, I gave My life for thee,What hast thou done for Me?I gave, I gave My life for thee,What hast thou done for Me?
2. My Father's house of light,My glory-circled throne I left for earthly night,For wanderings sad and lone;I left, I left it all for thee,Hast thou left aught for Me?I left, I left it all for thee,Hast thou left aught for Me?
3. I suffered much for thee,More than thy tongue can tell,Of bitterest agony,To rescue thee from hell;I've borne, I've borne it all for thee,What hast thou borne for Me?I've borne, I've borne it all for thee,What hast thou borne for Me?
4. And I have brought to thee,Down from My home above,Salvation full and free,My pardon and My love;I bring, I bring rich gifts to thee,What hast thou brought to Me?I bring, I bring rich gifts to thee,What hast thou brought to Me?

Hymn History: Near to the Heart of God
Thursday Aug 14, 2025
Thursday Aug 14, 2025
The wonderful hymn, Near to the Heart of God, was born during a time of tremendous human suffering and sadness. Cleland McAfee found that unexpected problems or crises may come into our lives.
Often, we cannot escape the pressures and shadows that accompany those problems. However, these can be faced with spiritual strength, which God faithfully provides. This is the message expressed in this song: There is a place of quiet rest...Near to the heart of God.

Gypsy Smith: I Have Never Lost the Wonder of It All
Friday Aug 08, 2025
Friday Aug 08, 2025
The Personal Testimony of Gypsy Smith:
“I didn’t go to your colleges and seminaries. They wouldn’t have me….but I’ve been to the feet of Jesus, where the only true scholarship is learned. The way to Jesus is not by Cambridge and Oxford, Glasgow, Edinburgh, London, Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Socrates, Plato, Shakespeare, or the poets… It's over an old-fashioned hill called Calvary. I’m God’s messenger from the gypsy tent. It’s the message that’s important, not the messenger."
In the latter years of his life, Vance Havner said to him: "Gypsy, I heard you preach... over fifty years ago--my, how you blessed my heart then. I have never forgotten it - but again tonight, how my heart was warmed and thrilled! Gypsy, tell me - what's the secret?" Gypsy answered, "Sir, I have never lost the wonder of it all." It was this simple statement that gave birth to the wonderful hymn written by Al Smith. Listen to this true story of Gypsy Smith and the story behind "I Have Never Lost the Wonder of It All."
